Path of the Horse Trentham Victoria, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy for Veterans, Military & Emergency Services

WELCOME TO THE
PATH OF THE HORSE

Horses helping us heal.

At The Path of the Horse, we utilise Psychotherapy and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy to support individuals of all ages,  backgrounds and needs in their pursuit of improved mental health and overall well-being.

We employ a powerful, effective, and compassionate approach that empowers our clients to make positive change.

What We Do

Through Psychotherapy and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy we guide individuals towards greater self-awareness, empowering them to make informed choices about their lives.

Our clients are welcome to engage in secure activities alongside our horses. Subsequently, they can reflect on and process their experiences, emotions, and thoughts if they choose.

By fostering a profound sense of 'awareness,' we dedicate ourselves to facilitating healing, cultivating resilience, nurturing meaningful relationships, and promoting sustained mental well-being. We embrace individuals as they are, valuing every emotion and feeling they bring.

Who We Help

At The Path of the Horse, our commitment spans diverse communities and people of different ages and experiences from all walks of life. Everybody is welcome.

We proudly support veterans, emergency service personnel, and their families, aiding in the management of conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Simultaneously, we help young people discover coping mechanisms and empower them to understand their feelings and make informed choices.

We also collaborate with NDIS participants, individuals with Autism, those facing challenges such as addiction, self-harm, grief, depression, anxiety, and various other conditions.

Why Horses?

Horses possess an extraordinary ability to alleviate stress and a truly unique capacity to share their empathy with humans. They are non-judgmental, completely honest, and cherished assistants in the healing process. These gentle beings also excel at being great listeners.

No prior horse experience is necessary—just an open mind and a willingness to embrace a new way of allowing yourself to feel. During your time with us, you might be invited to meet the entire herd, spend time grooming one, engage in controlled lead work, partake in a mounted experience, or simply share space with a member of the herd that you feel drawn to.

At Path of the Horse we are always seeking to raise money to support the health and wellbeing of our wonderful herd and to keep supporting the many clients we have who can not otherwise afford to see mental health practitioners.

The cost in both money and time to run the Path of the Horse throws up so many challenges for us to keep operating and we really do need your support.

“The facilities are excellent, the setting picturesque. I felt comfortable with Equine-Assisted Therapist Dean right away; he’s a great listener and facilitator. His love for his herd really shows, and they show him love in return.

I have spent some time with Badger, herd leader, with his off-sider, Montana, and young Belle. The time seems to just disappear while I have just gently interacted with them. I have been truly ‘in the moment’ during that time, my chronic severe foot pain, anxiety, depression (the list goes on) taking a back seat in my mind for that time. Magical mindfulness.

The warmth and fresh smell of horsey breath on my neck and face the best medicine I’ve tried in a long while. Thank you Dean. And Oz the kelpie.”
